Before:
After:
- It didn’t run for many years. Took it all apart, fixed some things, put it back together. Now it works.
- I found that I screwed up the idle adjustment and idle mixture screws on the carb a while back.
- Chamber compression wasn’t consistent due to stripped spark plug hole (re-threaded that). “Rebuilt” top end.
- I wouldn’t call it a full rebuild because piston, valves, cam, etc. were near perfect condition. Just replaced gaskets and a bolt I over-torqued and snapped…
- Replaced brakes.
- Replaced some bearings in steering stem after I lost a few of the balls…
- Re-lubed linkage, axles, all moving parts, etc. Cleaned every part, put it all back together.
Next Time:
- Make sure to check the pitch of the tap before threading the spark plug hole…
- 3 things for combustion: fuel, oxygen, ignition (spark and compression)
- Don’t lose the steering stem ball bearings
- Read the manual…
- Idle mixture and idle speed screws do different things
